Yellow Catfish is one of the Extremely rare fish among the family of the Wels catfish. Normally, the Wels catfish are usually dark and brownish in color, they are also known to be large species of catfish in lakes and rivers throughout Europe and weighs around 130 kilograms and if they live to become fully grown, they can grow up to 2.7 meters long.
This yellow catfish that was trapped in Netherland was reported to have been diagnosed with leucism, an uncommon hereditary problem that causes a decrease in the amount of pigmentation in skin and hair, transforming the fish into brilliant banana yellow colour.This problem is not the same as albinism as the shade of the eyes isn't impacted by this issue. Due to the discolouration, the colour becomes so intense and bright that leucistic animals are easily visible to predators, so it becomes difficult for them to hide and live in the wild.
The Yellow catfish was first caught by a Dutch fisherman "Martin Glazt" in 2021, preceding it was located in couple of spots in other part of Europe. Martin was out on a lake fishing, in the Netherlands with his twin sibling Oliver when he saw the immense ostentatious fish swimming around his boat and he decided to take a look. Glatz took the fish out and was so dazzled to see it that he dropped it again, but took a picture of it.
Glatz Speaking about the fish said, "I have never seen such a catfish and I am as yet wrecked by it."The condition has been before seen in warm blooded creatures, birds, and reptiles. Despite the fish already at its impressive size, Glatz hoped the fish would grow even bigger. The yellow cat fish has been listed has one of of the extremely rare fish in the world by the International body of wildlife conservation.
