Bobrisky's 'Best Dressed Female' Award is simply a joke - Eniola Ajao

Eniola Ajao, a prominent Nollywood actress and filmmaker, clarified that the decision to award cross-dresser Bobrisky the Best Dressed Female Award was made in jest. During an interview with Arise TV host Kachi, Ajao expressed regret to Nigerians, explaining that the award was intended to generate buzz for her movie, 'Ajakaju.'

Ajao emphasized, "It was all in good fun. Our aim was to spark conversation and ensure that the film receives widespread attention.

"I have taken it upon myself to safeguard the reputations of many individuals, often single-handedly, without assistance. I pondered, 'How can we generate buzz for this film?' and we opted to present the award to Bob, a figure known for stirring controversy.

Although the outcome was increased chatter, some individuals were displeased and have directed their frustration towards Femi Adebayo. Adebayo was unaware of many aspects of the situation; I simply asked him to assist in making the announcement.

"I have noticed online comments indicating that individuals will boycott the film. I implore you all to understand that it was all in jest, and Femi Adebayo was unaware of the events at the premiere.

"I did not anticipate that some would be offended by Bob being a male. I sincerely apologize; I hold our culture, traditions, and women in high regard."

Bobrisky, whose real name is Okuneye Idris, competed against women and emerged victorious in the Best Dressed Female category at the 'Ajakaju' premiere on Sunday, March 25, 2024. The immediate presentation of the award, along with a cash prize, sparked significant controversy among Nigerians on social media.
