Edo Governor Obaseki Raises Minimum Wage To N70,000

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has recently given his approval for a significant raise in the minimum wage for civil servants in the state. Effective from May 1st, 2024, the new minimum wage will now stand at N70,000.

This announcement was made during the inauguration ceremony of the state's modern Labour House secretariat complex, located along Temboga Road, Ikpoba-Hill, Benin City. Governor Obaseki expressed his commitment to improving the welfare of workers in Edo State by implementing this wage increase.

The increase occurred as a direct response to the extensive advocacy carried out by the public to enhance the living standards of Civil Servants. Unfortunately, due to the harsh economic conditions resulting from the removal of fuel subsidy by the Tinubu-led Federal Government, many individuals have been plunged into poverty.
