Yoruba Nation Agitators Arrested At Oyo Govt House Express No Femorse For Their Actions

A 55-year-old lecturer at the Federal College of Education (Special) in Oyo State, Alabi Ogundeji, who was among the Yoruba Nation agitators arrested for invading the Oyo State Governor’s Office and the state House of Assembly, expressed no remorse for his actions.

Similarly, a 29-year-old phone repairer named Ademola Adeniyi, who was also detained in connection with the invasion, stated that he stands by his decision to participate in the struggle.

Following the arrest of about 20 individuals by the police, including those suspected to be Yoruba Nation agitators, who wore military camouflage and carried weapons and charms, the two men defended their actions as being in accordance with Nigerian and international laws.

During their parade at the state Police Command in Ibadan, the state capital, both Ogundeji and Adeniyi reiterated their belief in the legitimacy of their cause, emphasizing the status of the Yoruba people as a distinct indigenous nation within Nigeria.
According to DayBreak News, the Agitators said, "the leaders of the Oodua Nation have taken all necessary steps and actions."

"As part of this process, we conducted a referendum in which 500 petitions were signed by Yorubas, serving as a representation of the will of the people"

"Our leadership personally delivered official letters to all Yoruba-speaking states, ensuring that each received a copy." "Following this, we made proclamations, declarations, and notifications to the world, affirming the indigenous status of the Yoruba nation."

"To commemorate the birth of our new nation, we gathered at the Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, to celebrate and rejoice". "While it is not a new concept that Yoruba is a nation, we are determined to assert our independence." "We have been part of Nigeria for over a century, but now we seek to stand on our own."

One of those arrested, Adeniyi, a 29-year-old phone repairer, expressed his perspective. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the Nigerian people and the hardships experienced by all except those in government.

Adeniyi and others were at the Secretariat, eagerly awaiting their leader's address. They trust in their leader's knowledge of the law and are unafraid to join the cause when called upon. Their leader has assured them that all the challenges faced by the Yoruba people will be addressed once their goal is achieved.

During the parade of all the suspects, State Police Commissioner Hamzat Adebola condemned their actions as criminal, unpatriotic, and a clear case of treasonable felony and terrorism. He emphasized that ensuring the continued existence of Nigeria as a sovereign and indivisible entity is a crucial task that must be accomplished. He also stated that the efforts of past heroes should never be in vain.

As a responsible parent, he urged other parents, guardians, and leaders in various spheres of influence to discourage their children, wards, protégés, and followers from being manipulated by unpatriotic individuals who seek to promote anarchy in the state and the nation as a whole.

Furthermore, he took the opportunity to remind those with criminal intentions that the state is home to many responsible, hospitable, and highly intelligent individuals who take pride in their creativity, hard work, and resourcefulness.

With determination, he pledged that under his watch, the state will not be reduced to a playground for criminals and misguided individuals or groups who seek to disrupt the relative peace enjoyed by the law-abiding citizens of the state.
