6 Whorsipers Killed In Afghanistan Mosque Shooting
Taliban officials in Afghanistan announced on Tuesday that an attack on a Shiite mosque in a western region near Iran resulted in the deaths of at least six people, including a child.
According to a spokesperson from the Interior Ministry, an unidentified armed individual entered the mosque in the Guzara district of Herat province, opened fire on worshippers, and then fled the scene.
The spokesperson, Abdul Mateen Qani, confirmed the death of six civilians and one injury through a post on the social media platform X.
While no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, suspicions have been raised against the regional Islamic State affiliate, Islamic State-Khorasan (IS-K), also known as Daesh.
This extremist Sunni organization has been linked to numerous recent attacks on Shiite mosques, hospitals, and public gatherings in Afghanistan.
