Lord Of The Ring And Titanic Star Actor Dies At 79
Bernard Hill, the renowned British actor recognized for his notable performances in "Titanic" and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, passed away at the age of 79, as confirmed by his agent.
In the 1997 epic romance "Titanic," he portrayed the character of Captain Edward Smith, while in Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" films, he gained worldwide acclaim for his portrayal of Theoden, the King of Rohan.
Hill's agent, Lou Coulson, announced his demise to the British media outlets during the early hours of Sunday.
During the early stages of his career, Hill made a significant impact with his role in the critically acclaimed 1982 BBC drama "Boys from the Blackstuff," which received numerous awards and is still regarded as one of the finest examples of its genre from that era.
Despite his passing, Hill's presence will still be felt on television screens as he is set to appear in the second series of the contemporary BBC drama "The Responder," alongside Martin Freeman. The series is scheduled to begin airing in the UK later on Sunday.
