NAFDAC Closes Down Unlicensed Sachet Water Production Facility in Apapa, Lagos State.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has recently closed down an unauthorized water production facility in Apapa, where counterfeit, contaminated, and unsanitary sachet water was being manufactured.

This facility, situated at No. 89 Marine Road, Oluwole Market Waterside, was uncovered during an operation conducted by NAFDAC’s Investigation & Enforcement Directorate.

The address of the factory did not match the one listed on the counterfeit sachet water brands that had already been produced.

The operation uncovered thousands of bags of counterfeit sachet water, which were produced in a filthy environment adjacent to a polluted canal, and were prepared for distribution.

During the enforcement action, more than 2,500 bags of sachet water were seized, and the remaining stock was destroyed on-site.

The illegal facility was shut down, and all production equipment was dismantled and removed. NAFDAC has estimated the street value of the confiscated water to exceed ₦1 million.

NAFDAC encourages the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.
