Ex-NBA Player and New York Supreme Court Judge Barry Kramer Dies at 82

Barry Kramer, a former NBA player who went on to have a distinguished legal career as a New York Supreme Court judge, has died at the age of 82.
Kramer, a native of Schenectady, New York, initially rose to prominence as a standout basketball player. A star at Schenectady High School, he continued his athletic success at New York University, where he earned All-American honors. In 1964, he was drafted into the NBA by the San Francisco Warriors, later playing briefly for the New York Knicks.

After stepping away from professional basketball, Kramer embarked on a new path, earning a law degree from Albany Law School. His transition from sports to law was marked by the same determination and drive that defined his athletic career.

Kramer served as a practicing attorney before ascending to the bench. In 1990, he was elected to the New York Supreme Court, where he presided over civil and criminal cases with a reputation for fairness, diligence, and a sharp legal mind. He remained an influential figure in the state judiciary until his retirement.

Throughout his career, Kramer was admired for his ability to connect with people from all walks of life, combining a competitive spirit with a deep commitment to justice. His unique journey from professional athlete to respected judge earned him widespread recognition and respect in both fields.
