Mother of Beheaded Corps Member Demands Justice, Honors Daughter’s Aspirations

The grieving mother of a young corps member who was brutally murdered has spoken out, demanding justice for her daughter and shedding light on the life and dreams that were tragically cut short.

Mrs. Ojomachenwu Adaidu, the mother of 24-year-old Salome Eleojo Adaidu, described her daughter as an ambitious, kind, and responsible young woman with a promising future.

Salome, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, met her untimely death in a gruesome incident allegedly involving Timileyin Ajayi, an Abuja-based gospel singer. The details of the crime have left the nation in shock, with many calling for a thorough investigation and swift justice.

In an emotional interview, Mrs. Adaidu recounted her daughter’s aspirations and the dedication with which she approached life. Salome was described as a hardworking individual who dreamed of making a significant impact in her community. “She was a bright light in our family,” Mrs. Adaidu said, holding back tears. “She worked tirelessly to achieve her goals and always looked out for others. Losing her in such a horrific way is an unimaginable pain.”

The family has urged the authorities to ensure the case is pursued diligently and that justice is served. Mrs. Adaidu stressed the need for accountability, stating that such crimes should not be allowed to go unpunished. She also appealed to the public to support their call for justice, emphasizing that no family should endure the loss of a loved one in such a brutal manner.

Salome’s death has sparked widespread outrage and renewed conversations about the safety of corps members, particularly women, during their mandatory service year. Advocacy groups and concerned citizens have joined the call for a thorough investigation and legal action against the perpetrator.

As investigations continue, Salome’s family is left mourning a life full of promise and potential. “Her dreams will never be realized, but we will ensure her death is not in vain,” Mrs. Adaidu said firmly.

The tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the challenges young Nigerians face and the urgent need for systemic changes to ensure their safety.
