Singer Portable Denies Claims of Being Stopped from Performing at Ibadan Concert

Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has responded to recent reports alleging that he was prevented from performing at a concert in Ibadan due to his controversial remarks about P.O.P ceilings. The artist, known for his outspoken nature, has denied the claims, insisting that he chose not to attend the event for personal reasons.

In a statement addressing the issue, Portable clarified that he was at home resting due to ill health on the day of the concert. "They lied. I was at home resting because I wasn’t feeling well," he stated. He also disclosed that financial disagreements contributed to his absence, alleging that the organizers did not fulfill the agreed payment terms.

According to Portable, he was promised a sum of ₦5 million for his performance but received only ₦1 million, which he deemed insufficient. “They only paid ₦1 million instead of ₦5 million, which isn’t even enough to buy kilishi,” he remarked, referencing the popular Nigerian delicacy to emphasize his point.

The singer further asserted that his loyalty lies with audiences and organizers who value his craft and are willing to meet his financial expectations. “I will only perform where I’m loved and paid well,” he added.

The controversy arose after Portable reportedly made a derogatory comment about P.O.P ceilings during a previous performance, which some speculated led to his exclusion from the Ibadan event. However, the singer's response suggests that the situation was more complex, involving both health concerns and financial disputes.

Portable, known for his energetic performances and unfiltered persona, continues to make headlines in the Nigerian music industry. While his comments often spark debate, his ability to remain in the public eye underscores his relevance in the entertainment space.

The organizers of the Ibadan concert are yet to respond to Portable’s allegations regarding the payment shortfall. As the story unfolds, fans and industry observers will be watching closely to see how the situation develops.
