Tragic Loss: Filmmaker Jeff Baena, Husband of Aubrey Plaza, Dies at 47

The film industry is mourning the sudden passing of acclaimed filmmaker Jeff Baena, who was found dead at the age of 47.
Baena, celebrated for his work on films such as Life After Beth and The Little Hours, was also known as the husband of renowned actress Aubrey Plaza. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Baena’s creative approach to storytelling and unique voice in independent cinema earned him critical acclaim and a dedicated following. Born on June 29, 1976, Baena grew up in Miami, Florida, and pursued film studies at New York University. His career began in Hollywood as an assistant to legendary director Robert Zemeckis before transitioning to screenwriting and directing.

Baena made his directorial debut with Life After Beth in 2014, a dark comedy that starred Aubrey Plaza and showcased his talent for blending humor with unconventional narratives. Over the years, the filmmaker continued to carve out a niche in the industry, directing films such as Joshy and Horse Girl. His work often featured a stellar ensemble cast, combining sharp dialogue with emotionally resonant themes.
