Rev. Fr. Sylvester Okechukwu Laid to Rest at St. Peter Claver’s Cathedral in Kafanchan

The Catholic community in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, gathered today to bid a solemn farewell to Rev. Fr. Sylvester Okechukwu, who was tragically murdered on Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025. His funeral Mass and burial took place at St. Peter Claver’s Cathedral, where clergy, parishioners, and sympathizers came together to honor his life and service.
Fr. Sylvester, known for his unwavering dedication to the faith and his pastoral commitment, was a beloved figure in the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan. His untimely death has left the community in mourning, with many remembering him as a compassionate and devoted priest who tirelessly served his congregation.
During the funeral Mass, officiated by senior clergy members of the diocese, heartfelt tributes were paid to the late priest. In his homily, the presiding bishop described Fr.
