Man Expresses Profound Gratitude After Hidden Well Collapses in Yard, Narrowly Missing Children

In a remarkable turn of events that could have ended in tragedy, a Nigerian man has publicly expressed heartfelt gratitude to God after a hidden well unexpectedly collapsed in his yard, moments after his children had left the area where it occurred.

The emotional incident, which has since stirred reactions online, unfolded when the man discovered that an old, unmarked well, believed to have been concealed beneath the surface for years, suddenly gave way, creating a large and dangerous sinkhole. According to the homeowner, his children had been playing directly over the hidden well just ten minutes before the collapse.

Sharing his experience, the man said, “I thank God from the bottom of my heart. The hidden well in my yard just collapsed. Luckily, the children weren’t there, they had all gone out. And just ten minutes earlier, that’s exactly where they were playing. Imagine the scene! I’m deeply grateful to the Lord for protecting them.”

While the location of the incident has not yet been disclosed, many social media users have commended the man’s faith and thanked God for what they have described as “divine intervention.” Photos and videos from the scene, which are currently circulating online, show the gaping hole left behind after the earth caved in.

Incidents involving hidden wells and underground collapses are not uncommon in parts of Nigeria, especially in older residential areas where abandoned water sources may not have been properly sealed or mapped. Experts have often warned homeowners to be cautious and to conduct proper land surveys, especially before initiating construction or landscaping projects.

The fortunate escape of the man's children has once again highlighted the importance of safety assessments around homes and the need for greater public awareness of such hidden dangers. Meanwhile, the man’s testimony continues to resonate as a powerful reminder of the thin line between daily life and unforeseen disaster, and the deep gratitude that can follow a near miss.
