P 'Diddy' Combs Acquitted of Major Charges, Faces Potential 10-Year Sentence on Lesser Counts

American music mogul and entrepreneur Sean "Diddy" Combs has been acquitted of the most serious criminal charges brought against him in a closely-watched federal trial that has gripped the public for the past eight weeks.

The 54-year-old former rap star was found not guilty on counts of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, but was convicted on lesser federal charges related to the unlawful transportation of individuals across state lines to engage in prostitution.

The trial, held at a federal courthouse in New York, featured explosive testimony and disturbing allegations. Prosecutors had originally accused Combs of orchestrating a criminal enterprise spanning several years—claims that included sexual exploitation, coercion, and participation in a widespread network of illicit activities. The government’s case hinged on testimonies from multiple accusers and alleged former associates, some of whom described troubling incidents dating back over a decade.

However, after weeks of deliberation, the jury concluded that there was insufficient evidence to support the more severe allegations of racketeering and sex trafficking. Legal experts note that these charges carry higher burdens of proof and require clear evidence of long-standing criminal collaboration.

Despite his acquittal on those counts, Combs was convicted of transporting individuals across state lines for the purpose of engaging in illegal sexual activity—a federal offense under the Mann Act. The court is expected to sentence Combs in the coming months, with legal analysts estimating a potential prison term of up to 10 years.

“This verdict shows that the system works. My client has been unfairly portrayed in the media, but today’s decision restores a measure of justice,” said Combs’ defense attorney outside the courthouse.

Meanwhile, U.S. Attorney Laura Kendall expressed mixed feelings about the outcome. “While we respect the jury’s decision, we remain committed to standing with survivors and holding those who exploit others accountable,” she stated.

As sentencing approaches, public attention will remain firmly fixed on one of the entertainment industry’s most controversial figures in recent years.
