BREAKING: Terrorists Raid Community in Kwara State, Nigeria; Abduct Pregnant Woman, Children, and Nursing Mothers in Ekiti LGA

A community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria, has been thrown into turmoil after armed terrorists launched a coordinated night raid, abducting a pregnant woman, ten children, and several nursing mothers. The attack, which unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday, has heightened fear across the region and drawn urgent attention from security authorities.

According to residents who witnessed the attack, the armed men stormed the community around midnight, firing intermittently to instill fear as they moved from house to house. An eyewitness report described how the attackers specifically targeted homes where women and children resided, forcing them out at gunpoint before marching them into the nearby forest.

Community members said the operation lasted for hours without immediate security intervention, a situation they blamed on the limited security presence in rural parts of Kwara State. According to local sources, the abductors fled toward remote forest routes commonly used by criminal groups operating along the Kwara–Kogi axis.

Local leaders expressed deep concern over the increasing frequency of attacks in the area. According to community elders, the kidnapping highlights the vulnerability of rural dwellers who have repeatedly appealed for stronger protection from both state and federal authorities. They described the incident as “heartbreaking” and urged the government to deploy additional security forces to prevent further tragedies.

Search efforts began shortly after the attack, with vigilante groups joining early tracking attempts while awaiting formal support from law enforcement. According to reports from community-based security volunteers, the terrain and darkness initially hindered the pursuit.

As of the time of this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the Kwara State Government has issued a comprehensive official statement. However, preliminary confirmations from local residents and community leaders indicate that the kidnapped victims remain in captivity, and no group has yet claimed responsibility for the assault.

Residents have called for urgent government intervention, emphasizing that the safety of the abducted women and children must be treated as a national priority. According to multiple community accounts, fear remains palpable as families anxiously await updates on the rescue efforts.

More details are expected as Nigerian security agencies continue their investigation and search operations.
