NAF Airstrikes Neutralize Several Terrorists in Sambisa Forest

 

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that its Air Component under Operation HADIN KAI carried out a series of precision airstrikes targeting terrorist hideouts in the Yuwe axis of the Sambisa Forest, resulting in the elimination of several insurgents.


According to a statement released by NAF authorities, the operation was conducted on Monday following credible intelligence reports indicating the presence of terrorist elements within the dense forest region. The airstrikes were described as carefully planned and executed to ensure maximum impact on the targets while minimizing collateral damage.

NAF officials noted that the Sambisa Forest, long regarded as a stronghold for insurgent groups, continues to be a focal point in ongoing counterterrorism efforts in northeastern Nigeria. The Yuwe axis, in particular, has reportedly been used by terrorists as a staging ground for logistics and coordination of attacks in surrounding communities.

According to military sources, surveillance missions were carried out prior to the strikes to confirm the location and movement of the suspected terrorists. The intelligence gathered reportedly revealed clusters of insurgents and equipment, prompting immediate authorization for the air operation. “The precision strikes successfully engaged the identified targets, leading to the neutralization of several terrorists,” the Air Force stated.

Eyewitness reports from nearby communities indicated hearing multiple explosions during the operation, followed by visible plumes of smoke rising from deep within the forest. While exact casualty figures were not disclosed, officials emphasized that the mission significantly disrupted terrorist activities in the area.

Operation HADIN KAI, a joint military initiative involving ground and air forces, has intensified efforts in recent months to dismantle insurgent networks across the northeast. Security analysts say the continued use of precision air power has proven effective in targeting hard-to-reach enclaves such as Sambisa.

The Nigerian Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups and ensuring the safety of civilians. Authorities also urged residents in surrounding areas to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.

The latest operation marks another step in the military’s broader campaign to restore peace and stability in the region, as efforts continue to weaken insurgent capabilities and reclaim occupied territories.
