FIFA Announces Davido for 2026 World Cup Countdown Concert in Los Angeles
Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has been announced as one of the headline performers for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert, a major entertainment event designed to build excitement ahead of the tournament's kickoff.
According to FIFA, Davido will perform at the United States edition of the Countdown Concert scheduled to take place on June 10, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The event is part of a first-of-its-kind synchronized concert series that will connect audiences across the three FIFA World Cup host nations — the United States, Canada, and Mexico — through music, football, and culture.
FIFA confirmed that Davido will share the stage with electronic music group Major Lazer, led by renowned producer Diplo. Additional performers are expected to be announced in the coming days as preparations intensify for the biggest FIFA World Cup in history.
The governing body of world football described the concert as a landmark celebration that will unite fans across North America ahead of the tournament. FIFA World Cup 2026 Chief Tournament Officer for the United States, Manolo Zubiria, said the Countdown Concert series reflects the passion, unity, and cultural connections that define the FIFA World Cup experience. He noted that Los Angeles, one of the world's entertainment capitals, is expected to deliver an unforgettable showcase of music and football.
The concert series is being organized in collaboration with the Grammys and will feature artists connected to the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album, alongside several international performers and special guests. Similar events are scheduled to take place in Toronto and Mexico City, featuring a diverse lineup of global music stars.
Davido's inclusion in the event highlights the growing global influence of Afrobeats and African music on the international stage. The Nigerian singer, known for chart-topping hits and sold-out performances around the world, joins a prestigious lineup of artists helping to celebrate the countdown to the tournament. His appearance is expected to further strengthen Africa's representation at one of the world's most watched sporting event.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will begin on June 11 and will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The tournament will feature 48 teams and 104 matches, making it the largest World Cup ever staged.
