Imran Khan in Good Health but Held in Prolonged Isolation, Sister Says After Rare Visit

Pakistan’s jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan is in stable physical condition but remains confined under near-solitary conditions, according to a statement by his sister, Uzma Khan, following her first authorized family visit in several weeks. Her comments on Tuesday sought to calm growing fears among Khan’s supporters after a wave of speculation about his wellbeing intensified across social media platforms.

Uzma disclosed that she was granted a tightly controlled meeting inside the Adiala Jail facility, where the former leader has been held since his conviction last year. According to Uzma, Khan “looked physically fine and mentally strong,” despite the extended isolation reportedly imposed on him. She explained that the visit was brief and conducted under strict supervision, reported by individuals familiar with the prison’s internal protocols.

Her remarks appear to be a deliberate effort to reassure millions of Khan’s followers in Pakistan and abroad. Over recent weeks, supporters have expressed alarm over what they described as a concerning lack of transparency surrounding his condition, according to political observers. Rumors had circulated online alleging that Khan might be gravely ill or even unaccounted for, though government officials repeatedly dismissed such claims as baseless.

Authorities have maintained that Khan is receiving appropriate medical care and that his detention conditions comply with legal requirements. A senior official from the Interior Ministry insisted last week that “Imran Khan is safe, healthy, and under standard security arrangements,” according to a government briefing shared with local media. However, the absence of regular family visits had continued to fuel public unease.

Uzma’s confirmation of his wellbeing is expected to temporarily ease those concerns, but her acknowledgment of his continued isolation may add new layers to the public debate over his detention. Human rights commentators have previously raised questions about the conditions under which high-profile political detainees are kept, reported by advocacy groups monitoring the situation.

With Imran Khan still commanding significant political influence despite imprisonment, his health and treatment remain closely watched issues in Pakistan’s charged political landscape. Observers note that Tuesday’s visit may prompt renewed calls for greater transparency from authorities, particularly as the nation navigates a period of political uncertainty.
