Israel Backed Anti Hamas Militia Leader Killed In Gaza

The leader of an anti Hamas militia allegedly supported, equipped and trained by Israeli forces has been killed in Gaza, according to BBC sources familiar with the situation. The militia chief, who operated from within the enclave while covertly collaborating with Israel, was reportedly targeted during a strike in central Gaza.

According to local reporters inside the territory, the attack occurred as the militia commander was travelling in a civilian vehicle through a densely populated district. Residents described hearing a sudden blast followed by thick smoke rising between residential buildings. Eyewitness accounts reported by CNN noted that emergency responders struggled to reach the scene due to ongoing clashes nearby.

According to BBC’s regional analysis, the militia had been quietly cooperating with Israel for several years, providing intelligence on Hamas infrastructure, tunnel systems and troop movements. The slain leader was considered a key intermediary who facilitated communication between Israeli security units and anti Hamas networks inside Gaza.

CNN reported that members of the militia were often supplied with encrypted radios, protective equipment and limited weaponry, enabling them to conduct surveillance missions in areas difficult for Israeli forces to access. The death of the commander is expected to significantly disrupt these operations, according to security experts monitoring the conflict.

Local reporters in Gaza said Hamas security operatives had intensified efforts in recent weeks to locate suspected collaborators, particularly as Israeli ground and air operations escalated across the enclave. While Hamas has not officially confirmed responsibility for the killing, analysts cited by BBC suggested the strike fit the pattern of recent operations targeting individuals believed to be cooperating with external actors.

According to Reuters, regional observers warn that the killing could deepen tensions within Gaza’s civilian population, especially among families suspected of having ties to intelligence networks. The incident also highlights the growing dangers faced by residents caught between militant groups and foreign-backed operations.

As the conflict continues to intensify, international platforms such as CNN and BBC report that the death underscores the increasingly volatile environment in Gaza, where shifting alliances and covert operations add new layers of complexity to the prolonged war.
