Iran Faces Sanctions Over Weekend Assault On Israel

The United States imposed sanctions on Iran on Thursday in response to the missile and drone attacks on Israel over the weekend. 

President Joe Biden stated, "We played a role in thwarting this attack. Today, we are taking action against Iran by implementing new sanctions and export controls." 

Biden also issued a warning to those who support Iran, emphasizing the U.S.'s commitment to Israel's security and the safety of its personnel and partners in the region. 

The Treasury Department's sanctions target 16 individuals and two entities involved in supplying unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as five companies that provide components for one of Iran's major steel producers.
