Passengers Jumped off burning ship to escape the blaze.

Dramatic video footage captures a fire engulfing a ship off the coast of Thailand, as passengers recount leaping off the vessel to evade the flames.
The ferry, traveling from Surat Thani to Koh Tao, was scheduled to dock on Thursday morning when a passenger heard crackling noises and detected the smell of smoke.

Videos shared online depict a mass exodus of individuals fleeing the ferry's cabin as it becomes enveloped in dense black smoke.

Maitree Promjampa, a passenger onboard, recounted to the Associated Press: "We struggled to grab the life vests in time. It was pandemonium. There were tears... I was emotional too."

He mentioned that rescue boats arrived approximately 20 minutes after the distress call was made, but they hesitated to approach the ferry due to concerns of potential explosions.

Allegedly, individuals had to jump into the sea to be rescued. "Everyone had to fend for themselves," he remarked. Of the 108 individuals onboard, 97 were passengers, as per Surat Thani authorities on Facebook.

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported. The fire has been extinguished, and an investigation is underway to determine its cause.
