Animal Abuse - Two Boys, Aged 11 And 12, Sentence For Engaging In Acts Of Cruelty Against Over 20 Animals

Two boys, aged 11 and 12, have been sentenced for engaging in acts of cruelty towards more than 20 animals, which involved "slamming and stamping" on them.

The incident took place at an environmental college, where the animals were killed.

According to the SUN, the unnamed boys appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates' Youth Court, where they were ordered to pay £200 in compensation. Their parents will be held liable for this payment.

The court emphasized that the boys themselves are responsible for their actions and subsequent punishment, not their parents.

Magistrate Lynn Green urged the boys to make amends by fulfilling any requests made by their parents.

The court decided to impose a community sentence on the boys, taking into account their age and the fact that they were not persistent offenders, thus avoiding imprisonment.

Magistrate Green expressed the court's reluctance to view the CCTV footage of the incident, stating that it was too distressing. She also highlighted that if the boys were adults, they would have faced a significant custodial sentence.

The break-in at Capel Manor College resulted in the death of numerous animals and damage to enclosures. In addition to the acts of cruelty, the boys had also stolen several animals, including snakes, ferrets, and guinea pigs.

As part of the referral order, both boys are required to attend regular meetings with their parents and youth offending teams for a period of 12 months.

During mitigation, the defense lawyers acknowledged the seriousness of the offenses committed by their respective clients.

The lawyer representing the 11-year-old boy stated that both boys denied intentionally killing the animals and claimed that they only wanted to play with them outside of their cages. Both boys expressed deep remorse for their actions.
