Top officials in Washington are working towards preventing an escalation of conflict in the Middle East following Iran's unprecedented attack on Israel using explosive drones and missiles.
According to VOA, a senior U.S. official, who chose to remain anonymous, emphasized the need for consequences during a briefing with reporters on Sunday afternoon.
However, during his recent conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, U.S. President Joe Biden stressed the importance of carefully considering the risks of escalation. The attack resulted in minimal damage and no significant casualties, prompting the need for a strategic approach, the official explained.
While Israeli officials affirm that a response will be forthcoming, the country's war Cabinet is currently divided on the appropriate course of action and the timing of it.
